The Epiphany Project
TEP (The Epiphany Project) was started in 2010 as a labor of love for three seasoned musicians from central North Carolina. The concept was to create an instrumental ensemble that played multiple genres of music including Jazz, Blues, Swing, Rock, and Fusion.
Today, TEP is made up of Hal Martin (acoustic and electric bass), Tommy Arrington (drums), Carlos Tolbert (alto and soprano sax, flute), Josh Casstevens on Guitar and Tommy Smith (keyboards and melodica) – a lineup which boasts a collective 100+ years of experience playing music. The song list has developed into a syncretic mergence of traditional jazz, funk jazz, fusion and avant-garde and is comprised of both covers and original compositions. TEP pulls from the canon of great composers like Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus, Bud Powell, Billy Cobham, George Benson, Sun Ra and even contemporaries such as Jeff Coffin and Medeski, Martin and Wood.
Whether you simply need low volume “musical wallpaper” or a musical centerpiece for your event TEP is the ideal fit.
